 Writen by Patrick Süskind, it was first published in 1985 under the title of “Das Parfum” and it portraits the life of a XVIIIth century murderer. Born with an unique gift, left to die by his own mother, Jean-Baptiste Grenouille is saved by pure will to live only to find himself overwhelmed by a world of stench.

With an extraordinary sense of smell, he manages to possess every odor from the crowded towns, untill he comes by a different kind of perfume, that of a young girl. Becoming more and more interested in the preservation of smells, forever in search of that perfect perfume, Grenouille turns into the perfect murderer.

A great book for a summer afternoon when even the air is smelling like an open oven. It will make you relate with the period and offer a view on a world near us, briefly felt with the help of your senses.
